Degree centrality describes the directness of journeys along the public transport network. It is a topological network indicator, measuring the minimum number of transfers between each pair of activity nodes. It makes use of the same GIS wayfinding tool as the previous indicator, only here the tool determines the path with the minimum number of transfers, even if this leads to a greater cumulative impediment value. Degree centrality is shown as an average across the network and as an average for each activity node. Lower values indicate greater centrality.
